June 8, 2005 No. A/54 Denis Coderre, the Prime Minister’s Special Adviser for Haiti, will visit Haiti from June 8 to 11, 2005, as part of a joint mission between Canada, the United States, Brazil and France. The mission’s objectives are to evaluate the security situation in Haiti, review the progress of the electoral process, and send a clear message as to the urgent need for the interim Haitian government to take all necessary measures to increase security in Haiti, in close collaboration with the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). During his visit, Mr. Coderre will meet with Prime Minister Gérard Latortue, Foreign Affairs Minister Hérard Abraham, Special Representative and Head of MINUSTAH Juan Gabriel Valdes, members of the Provisional Electoral Council, representatives of the United Nations and of the Organization of American States, as well as representatives of the main Haitian political parties, among others.
