General Henault will start this week at NATO as top military

MA-05.033 - June 14, 2005 OTTAWA -- On Thursday, 16 June, General Ray Henault will assume his new duties as Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, becoming NATO's highest-ranking military officer, following a handover ceremony at NATO HQ, in Brussels, from 2:00 to 3:15 pm (Central European Time-GMT +1). The Military Committee is the highest military decision-making authority in NATO, assisting and advising the North Atlantic Council on all military matters. The Chairman is selected by the Chiefs of Defence Staff of the NATO nations and appointed for a three-year term. More information about the Military Committee may be found on the Canadian Forces web site at www.forces.gc.ca or at the International Military Staff (NATO) web site at http://www.nato.int/ims/home.htm General Henault will be available via teleconference from 11:00 to 11h30 a.m. (Ottawa time) on 16 June.
