OTTAWA, ONTARIO-The Honourable Belinda Stronach, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Minister responsible for Democratic Renewal, today announced the appointment of Ms. Gertrude Marilyn Gadsby to the Board of Directors of the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation.
"I am very pleased Ms. Gadsby has agreed to join the Board of the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation," said Minister Stronach. "Her extensive experience and knowledge in the field of education will be an invaluable asset to the Board."
Ms. Gadsby is currently Head of the Business and Technology Department at Miles Macdonell Collegiate in Winnipeg. She has been a teacher at many schools in Manitoba such as the Souris Valley School, Birdtail River School, Evergreen School, Rolling River School and for Assiniboine Community College. Ms. Gadsby holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg and has completed a Pre Master program, Educational Foundations, at the University of Manitoba.
The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation was established in June 1998 to manage a
$2.5-billion endowment from the Government of Canada, and to grant scholarships to students. These scholarships enable Canadians to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to participate in a changing economy and society.
