ALLERGY ALERT - Sulfathiazole residues in honey sold by PINE GROVE ACRES APIARIES

OTTAWA, July 29, 2005 -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Pine
Grove Acres are warning people with allergies to sulfa drugs not to consume the
Pine Grove Acres, Pure Natural Wildflower Honey described below. The affected
product contains residues of sulfathiazole. This alert is of concern to those
individuals who have allergies to sulfa drugs.
The Pure Natural Wildflower Honey affected by this alert was sold only from
Pine Grove Acres Apiaries, R.R. # 2,
Collingwood, Ontario between June 2004 to July 2005. The product was sold in
680 g, 3 lbs, 15 lbs and 30 lbs containers,
bearing the name Pure Natural Wildflower Honey, Canada No. 1 White. The honey containers also bear the name and
address of Pine Grove Acres Apiaries.
Pine Grove Acres Apiaries, Collingwood, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the
affected product from the marketplace.
Consumption of this product may expose susceptible individuals to a
potential risk of an allergic reaction, including anaphylactic shock. There
have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this
product.
