Allergy Alert - Undeclared wheat in DARYL'S HI-G BARS

OTTAWA, July 14, 2005 -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and
Daryl’s Hi-N-R-G Bars Inc. are warning
people with allergies to wheat protein not to consume the Daryl’s
Hi-N-R-G Bars described below. The affected products contain wheat which is not
declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have
allergies to wheat protein.
The following Daryl’s Hi-N-R-G Bars are affected by this alert:
Daryl’s Hi-N-R-G Bar
Daryl’s Hi-N-R-G Bar -- "Mae Bee" The Best Chocolate N-R-G
Bar
Daryl’s Bee A Pro Hi-N-R-G Bar
Daryl’s Bee A Pro Chocolate Hi-N-R-G Bar
All expiry codes up to and including Sept 30/05 are affected by this
alert.
The weight of the product is not declared on the label. However, the
Nutritional Information on the label indicates the serving weight is 100 g.
The manufacturer, Daryl’s Hi-N-R-G Bars Inc., Windsor, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the
affected products from the marketplace. These products have been distributed in
Ontario.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with allergies to wheat protein. There have been no
reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
The CFIA is
monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
