Moncton, New Brunswick
Moncton will be the hub of activity for two hundred New
Brunswick businesswomen on September 26 and 27, when they
gather for the second annual Women in Business Conference. Building on the success of last year's event, the
conference provides a rare opportunity for women in
business to connect and network with peers, attend
workshops, and share ideas and experience on how to tackle
common business challenges. The conference was sold out
last year, so those interested in attending are encouraged
to register early. "Women entrepreneurs make up one of the most dynamic forces
in Canada's economy," said Andy Scott, Minister for Indian
Affairs and Northern Development Canada and Federal
Interlocutor for Metis and Non-Status Indians, on behalf of
the Honourable Joseph McGuire, Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency."Here in New Brunswick, and significantly through the
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the Government of
Canada is pleased to support people's efforts to strengthen
and diversify local economies. Our entrepreneurs grow
businesses with local roots and international reach, and
this is exactly what we need," Scott added. The conference, "Women in Business Conference 2005--Unleash
Your Potential", is supported by the Atlantic Canada
Opportunities Agency (ACOA) in partnership with the New
Brunswick Association of CBDCs and numerous other partners,
including New Brunswick Training and Employment Development
and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). The
goal of the conference is to offer practical discussions
and strategies that will assist women in business in
discovering business solutions and achieving business
success.Local and regional experts will lead 16 workshops, focusing
on four main areas: Export, Human Resources, Marketing and
Market Research. The conference is slated to kick off at noon on September
26th, with a keynote address by Margaret Hachey of Duocom
Canada Inc. scheduled for that evening. The conference
wraps up at noon on September 27th.For more information, visit the conference web site at

through its Women in Business Initiative (WBI). The WBI
helps women business owners and women with business ideas
access advice, information and support tailored to their
business needs; improve their business management skills;
and secure financing for business start-up and expansion.
