Moncton, New Brunswick - Over 100 stakeholders from the innovation community in
Atlantic Canada and beyond are expected to gather next
month in Moncton, New Brunswick to discuss
opportunities and challenges in creating commercial
activity around knowledge and technology.
Growing Technology Business in Atlantic Canada is the theme
of this one-day regional conference which is being
organized by Research Money Inc. in collaboration with the
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). The conference
is scheduled for October 6, 2005 and will focus on the
areas of innovation, commercialization and best practices."The Government of Canada places a strong emphasis on
research, innovation and commercialization, which are key
to Atlantic Canada's economic growth and competitiveness,"
said the Honourable Joseph McGuire, Minister of
ACOA. "By supporting initiatives such as this conference,
ACOA is working to find ways to encourage businesses to
invest in innovation and research and development." The conference will be a blend of panel discussions and
featured speakers. Paul Kent, COO of xwave will deliver the
keynote address. Byron Dawe (President, Rutter
Technologies), Tom Hayes (President & CEO, GrowthWorks),
David King (President, Genesis Group), Nancy Mathis
(CEO, Mathis Instruments), Robert Orr (President, Ocean
Nutrition), Wade MacLaughlin (President & Vice-
Chancellor, UPEI), Dr. Rodney Ouellette (CEO &
Scientific Director, Beauséjour Health Research Institute),
and Judith Whittick, (President &CEO, C-Core) are among the
panelists who will be discussing best practices as they
relate to the business of research and financing the growth
of technology firms. The conference will be held at the
