A total of eleven Francophone entrepreneurs from Atlantic
Canada have been nominated for the third annual Lauriers de
la petite et moyenne entreprise awards, to be held in
Ottawa on October 22, 2005.The awards gala is a national competition of excellence
that honours Francophone businesses from outside Quebec for
their economic performance and social commitment. The event
is organized by the Réseau de développement économique et
d'employabilité du Canada (RDÉE Canada)."I would like to congratulate all the finalists that have
been nominated for this third annual gala event," said the
Honourable Joseph McGuire, Minister of Atlantic Canada
Opportunities Agency (ACOA). "These Francophone
entrepreneurs are playing an active role in the economic
growth of their community and thereby helping to create
good places to live and work." The finalists are nominated in the following categories:
tourism, the knowledge-based economy, rural development,
and the integration of youth in economic development. Four
winners from across Canada will be crowned at the awards
gala.RDÉE Canada's mandate is to optimize the economic potential
of Francophone and Acadian communities. Through its
provincial and territorial organizations, it is active in
all regions of the country outside Quebec. It works to
provide services to communities that will help create
sustainable businesses and jobs. The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is helping to fund
the awards gala and is one of the federal agencies that
sits on the RDÉE Canada's National Committee. The gala is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
