Government of Canada Encourages Training New Generation of Museum Professionals in Quebec

MONTRÉAL, October 4, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla today announced $68,700 in funding for the Société des musées québécois. The funds will enable the Society to implement a mentoring program in Quebec museums. Our museums offer high-quality activities and attendance is increasing every year. This interest in museums is to a large degree related to the enthusiasm shown by those who run these institutions, said Minister Frulla. We must preserve their expertise and pass it on to the next generation of museologists, and I am pleased that this funding will help the Société des musées québécois do this. Thanks to this funding, the Société des musées québécois will develop and implement a training process for managers through career mentoring.
