MONTRÉAL, October 5, 2005 -- Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Minister responsible for the Francophonie, and Member of Parliament (Brossard - La Prairie) Jacques Saada, on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla, today announced $317,321 in funding for 10 Quebec magazines. The funds will enable the publishers of these magazines to continue to provide editorial content that reflects the everyday lives of Canadians. Everywhere in our country and, in particular in Quebec, the Government of Canada is supporting publishers so that they can continue to enrich our culture, stated Minister Saada. I am happy to announce this funding, which demonstrates our commitment to offering Canadian readers a wide choice of quality Canadian magazines. Magazines produced in Canada occupy an important place in our cultural landscape. They enable us to share our knowledge, our viewpoints and our expertise in a wide range of fields, Minister Frulla added. The Government of Canada is proud to support these 10 magazines, which reflect the concerns and the interests of Canadians. The magazines that will receive this funding are: Bébé ($11,048); Cycle Canada ($44,654); Le magazine Enfants Québec ($56,060); Guide ressources ($42,299); Grossesse ($11,048); Junior ($27,158); Le monde de lÕauto ($32,868); Le monde du VTT/Quad ($31,021); Moto Journal ($33,818); and Pole position ($27,347).Financial assistance is provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Support for Editorial Content component of its Canada Magazine Fund, which is part of the Government of Canada's commitment to ensure that Canadian readers have access to quality Canadian publications.
