A new community entrepreneurial leadership development
program for Francophones in the Atlantic region will be
offered by Université Sainte Anne in partnership with the
Société éducative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard."Communities across Atlantic Canada have the capacity to
create a more prosperous future and enhanced quality of
life for their citizens," said the Honourable Joseph
McGuire, Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities
Agency (ACOA). "This new program will assist community
leaders by providing them the tools and the knowledge to
strength their community." The $183,500 investment by ACOA will enable the post-
secondary institution to develop twelve modules leading to
certification in community entrepreneurial leadership. The
program, targeted to community leaders, is scheduled for
roll-out in the spring of 2007."This new training program will increase community
leadership capacity in Atlantic Canada's Francophone
community," added the Honourable Robert Thibault, M.P.
for West Nova. "The development of training for the
minority official-language community will help Francophone
entrepreneurs to acquire the tools needed to ensure the
region's economic development."The goals of the new program are to develop capacities of
community leaders, provide tools to teach the
entrepreneurial spirit necessary for the development of
Francophone businesses and organizations in Atlantic
Canada, and to expose participants to state-of-the-art
strategies and content related to the community
entrepreneurial leadership program by using visual learning
technologies.
Université Sainte-Anne is the only French-language
institution of post-secondary education in Nova Scotia. It
offers a number of university programs, including Bachelor
degrees, and specialized immersion programs. The university
provides French-language education to Francophones in
Atlantic Canada and also plays an important role in the
development of the Francophone communities in Nova Scotia.
