Governor General to participate in activities of the 93rd Grey Cup

OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and His Excellency
Jean-Daniel Lafond will participate in activities surrounding the 93rd Grey Cup Championship Game, in Vancouver
on November 26 and 27, 2005.
The Grey Cup Game is Canada’s largest professional sporting event. The Cup is named after Sir Albert Henry George
Grey, 4th Earl Grey, who was Governor General of Canada from 1904 to 1911. The first Grey Cup was awarded in
1909 at Rosedale Field in Toronto.
The Governor General will be presenting the Cup to the winning team on Sunday. The last time the Cup was presented by
a Governor General was in 1988 by then Governor General Jeanne Sauvé.
The detailed itinerary is attached. The schedule is subject to change.
