OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief
of Canada, and His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond will participate in the following activities on Remembrance Day,
Friday, November 11, 2005:
9:00 a.m. Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor
General of Canada, and Mr.Jean-Daniel Lafond will participate in the installation ceremony of the Seventh Book of
Remembrance on Parliament Hill. This book, the seventh of the series, contains the names of members of the Canadian
Forces that have lost their lives in the line of duty since October 1st, 1947.

11:00 a.m. Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr.Jean-Daniel
Lafond will attend the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. The Governor General
will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Canada.

3:30 p.m. Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr.Jean-Daniel
Lafond will host a tea at Rideau Hall in Ottawa for this year’s National Silver Cross Mother, Claire Léger.
Mrs. Léger’s son, Sergent Marc Léger, was killed while on duty in Afghanistan in 2002. The National
Silver Cross Mother is chosen annually by the Royal Canadian Legion to represent mothers who have lost children in the
military service of our country at the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa.
