On February 7, 2006, following five days of deliberations a jury in
Miramichi found four men guilty of defrauding the Region 7 Hospital
Corporation in Miramichi. The offences took place between April 1, 1994
and June 30, 2000.
Provincial Court Judge, A.R.J. (Drew) Stymiest of the Miramichi area was
found guilty of 12 counts of fraud and eight counts of breach of trust.
Two of the fraud counts are in connection with his duties as a New
Brunswick Provincial Court Judge. The other counts are related to his
duties as the Chairman and Board member of the Region 7 Hospital
Former CEO and President of the Region 7 Hospital Corporation, John
Tucker, of Newfoundland and Labrador was found guilty of nine counts of
fraud and eight counts of breach of trust.
Former Vice-President of Finance for the Region 7 Hospital Corporation,
Ian Jamieson, of the Miramichi area was found guilty of two counts of
fraud. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on another seven counts of
fraud against Mr. Jamieson.
Former Vice-President of Support Services for the Region 7 Hospital
Darrell Doucette, of Prince Edward Island was found guilty of one count
All four men have been remanded into custody and will return to the
Miramichi Courthouse for sentencing on Wednesday March 29, 2006 at 9am.
