Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton, Quebec, March 22,
2006 - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of
Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced the awarding
of $507,383 in repayable funding to Sixpro Inc. of Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton for
productivity enhancement.
This financial assistance will make it possible for the enterprise to
reconfigure certain work areas, acquire new equipment and improve the efficiency
of its operating methods. The project also includes an "electronic business"
component that will enable the company to purchase high-performance computers
and software to upgrade its manufacturing management system. Completion of the
Sixpro project will result in the consolidation of 180 high-quality jobs.
"This contribution is in line with our efforts to support innovation,
productivity enhancement and greater competitiveness among Quebec SMEs. In the
area of productivity, we encourage enterprises to carry out a well-planned
process in order to better focus on their competitive standing. Enterprises,
like Sixpro, that are driven by world-class business practices are instrumental
to the economic vitality of the regions of Quebec," stated Minister
Blackburn.
A long-standing partner of Sixpro, Canada Economic
Development has awarded two prior repayable contributions to the enterprise
under its
IDEA-SME Program,
one in 2001 and another in 2004, totalling $481,750 in assistance.
It should be recalled that Canada Economic Development's mandate is to
promote the economic development of the regions of Quebec. Primarily through
financial assistance programs, the Agency elicits and supports the
implementation of economic development projects.
