OTTAWA, March 27, 2006 -- The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) announced
today that it has entered into a sales and marketing agreement with Munich-
based Banknote and Security Printing Company, Giesecke & Devrient (G&D). After
examining potential partners, the RCM determined that G&D is the most suitable
partner to promote RCM products and services abroad.
In an effort to promote and sell its products and services in untapped
international markets, the RCM sought out a partner with relevant agencies and
sales representation where it does not currently have a presence. The
agreement with G&D will facilitate with the sale of RCM circulation blanks and
coins, tooling, numismatic coins, gold and bullion products as well as alloy
recovery into new markets with the overall goal of increasing international
sales.
The RCM is known around the world for its patented multi-ply plating
technology. In turn, G&D will leverage this technology to stimulate sales with
its international customer base which includes central banks and commercial
banks that use high volumes of coins or tokens, namely, casinos, retailers and
restaurants.
G&D is a global leader in both the Banknote (Banknote Paper and Printing
& Currency Automation Services) and Card (Cards and Solutions, Products and

ranked first in high-volume banknote processing and second in banknotes. Their

and Tokyo, G&D has developed long-term relationships with Central Banks,
Commercial Banks, Monetary Authorities and National Mints in these regions.
