OTTAWA - Health Canada is warning consumers not to use the health product
Miracle Bion as it could be contaminated with bacteria such as E. coli.
There are two varieties
of Miracle Bion - Alpha and Omega. Neither are approved by Health
Canada.
The Omega version can be used for intravenous use and this could result in serious
infection and is therefore a serious and potentially life-threatening health risk. The
Omega version
is also advertised for external use on skin and for oral use in children. The Alpha version
is manufactured as a black liquid and in capsule form and is for oral use only. Both
versions present a health risk and should not be used.
Common symptoms of E. coli include fever,
vomiting and diarrhea. Symptoms can also be more serious. Consumers who may have used
Miracle Bion and are concerned about their health
should contact a health care professional.
Miracle Bion, distributed in Canada by Clinique
naturopathique de la Cité, contains humic
and fulvic acids, which come from humus. Humus is made up of decomposed plant and animal
residues, is found in soil, and could be contaminated with many types of bacteria such
as E. coli.
Miracle Bion is being promoted as an immune system booster and as a treatment
for serious diseases, such as cancer, asthma, dementia, influenza, tuberculosis, epilepsy
and arthritis.
These diseases should not be self-diagnosed or self-medicated and should
only be treated under the supervision of a health care provider. It is important to discuss
the use of
any non-prescription products - including vitamins, minerals and natural health products
- with your health care provider.
The distributor of Miracle Bion has refused to comply
with Health Canada requests to recall and stop selling these products.
Consumers should
not discard this product without checking first with their Municipal Government regarding
safe disposal.
