Since May 1 to May 15 about 60 civilians have been undergoing deployed operations training at CFB Kingston, Ont. The operations training, being delivered by the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA) is in preparation for a six-month deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan. CFPSA is currently training this group of civilians, approximately 40 of whom will be selected to deploy to Kandahar.
Currently 27 CFPSA civilian employees in Kandahar deliver morale and welfare programs and services to 2300 Canadian Forces (CF) members. The CFPSA morale and welfare support includes rest and recreation programs, home leave travel assistance (HLTA) services, retail operations (including CFPSA employees serving Tim Hortons products), mess operations, fitness, sports and recreation programs, barber services and other amenities. CFPSA also provides periodic show tours to various deployed missions.
The CFPSA develops and delivers morale and welfare programs, activities and services to members of the CF and their families, in Canada and overseas. Its goal is to enhance the quality of life of the military community and, thus, contribute to the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Canadian Forces.
