On Wednesday, July 26, 2006, media are invited to attend a special briefing and demonstration on Exercise Precise Response, a multinational NATO Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) defence training exercise at Defence R&D Canada Suffield (DRDC Suffield).
For safety and security considerations, and due to the nature of the training activities conducted in a live agent environment, media will have the opportunity to observe the actions of a sampling team in a mock CBRN scenario setting. Several participants from various NATO countries will be on site to answer questions from the media, following the demonstration.
For security reasons, all participating media must confirm their attendance no later than 4:00 p.m., Monday, July 24, with Andrea Lauder of the DRDC Suffield Communications Office at (403) 544-4614. Confirmed media will be required to report to the parking area located directly across from the main gate at CFB Suffield (Suffield guardhouse) on Highway 884 (Jenner Road) by 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26. Media will then be escorted on ground transport from the main gate to the training area. Camera and video equipment will be permitted on site. Media are advised to wear sunscreen, insect repellent and boots as the range is hot, windy and dusty.
DRDC Suffield is located on Highway 884 near Ralston, Alberta, approximately 5 km northeast of the Trans-Canada Highway. It is approximately a 30-minute drive west of Medicine Hat, or a three-hour drive east of Calgary.
