OTTAWA, September 20, 2006 — The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), today appointed Roy Anderson and Bruce Okabe as members of the Board of Directors of the CTC.
"Mr. Anderson and Mr. Okabe will be joining this board with a solid understanding of Canada's tourism industry from two diverse backgrounds," said Minister Bernier. "Their experiences, from the private and public sectors, will offer the CTC fresh perspectives that will allow them to continue the promotion and growth of the Canadian tourism industry."
Roy Anderson is the past President and Managing Partner of Anderson/Fast & Associates, a management consulting firm. The firm specializes in strategic management consulting, market research, and communications. In 2000, he was appointed President and CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan.
Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and is also a graduate of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants.
Bruce Okabe held various senior leadership positions at TELUS, including Vice-President of Business Solutions, before being appointed as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sport and the Arts for British Columbia in May 2006.
Mr. Okabe is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology as well as the Richard Ivey School of Business Executive Development Program at the University of Western Ontario.
