Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Quebec, October 2,
2006 Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Labour and Minister of
Canada Economic Development, the Honourable
Jean-Pierre Blackburn, the Minister of Transport, the Honourable
Lawrence Cannon, today announced a $100,000 repayable contribution to
Filtration Puretech, a producer of air filters for ventilation systems.
This announcement coincides with the inauguration of the manufacturing
facility.
The startup of Filtration Puretech will tangibly stimulate Pontiac's manufacturing sector. From its first year of operation, the firm plans to create
15 full‑time jobs, thus making a positive contribution to this community's
economic vitality.
"This is outstanding news for employment in the region," stated
Minister Cannon. "But even more, it is a perfect example of the results
Canada's New Government is able to produce for Quebecers, for job creation, and
for air quality. Quebecers are fed up with hot air on environmental issues. They
want pure air," the Minister added, "and so does Canada's New Government."
The financial assistance from the Agency will be used to purchase equipment
to manufacture air filters. Establishment of this new enterprise required a
total investment of $1,327,331. Prominent among funding providers were the
Community Futures Development Corporation, the CLD Pontiac local development
centre and the Business Development Bank of Canada.
