Ottawa, ON – October 18, 2006 -- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is pleased to be recognized again this year as one of the country’s top employers, as chosen by Mediacorp Canada Inc. for the 2007 edition of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
“Operating in today’s increasingly competitive employment market makes being an employer of choice even more important,” says Barbara George, Deputy Commissioner of RCMP Human Resources. “For anyone considering a career in policing, this award confirms the RCMP is an outstanding place to work.”
The RCMP is Canada’s national police, employing more than 26,000 people, including regular and civilian members, and public service employees, across Canada and abroad. It was one of over 1,500 Canadian employers that started the application process for the Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition for 2007. Mediacorp Canada Inc., publishers of the annual list, reviewed the recruitment histories of over 60,000 employers across Canada, and invited the RCMP to participate along with over 10,000 other employers, from which it was named to the Top 100.
“This honour is only possible because of the extraordinary efforts of our employees,” says Deputy Commissioner George. “Every employee plays a role in the success of our organization, and I wish to thank them for building on our proud history.”
The RCMP is also delighted to be included on the regional and special-interest “Top Employer” lists for Canada’s Top 10 Family-Friendly Employers and National Capital Region’s Top 15 Employers.
