APPOINTMENTS TO THE BLUE WATER BRIDGE AUTHORITY
OTTAWA − The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport,
Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Chuck
Chrapko as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Blue Water Bridge
Authority and Mr. Ken James as a member of the board of directors.
"I am pleased to announce these appointments to the Blue Water Bridge
Authority," said Minister Cannon. "Their combined experience in business and
management will be an asset to the authority."
Mr. Chuck Chrapko received a bachelor of arts in economics from the University
of Waterloo. Until 2005, he was owner and vice president of operations of Howell
Data Systems, a software and hardware services company based in Sarnia, Ontario.
He was also a sales representative for eight years at Molson Breweries in
Windsor, Ontario. Mr. Chrapko has been appointed as President and Chief
Executive Officer of the Blue Water Bridge Authority for three years.
Mr. Ken James attended the University of Guelph and graduated from Michigan
State University with a bachelor of arts in economics. Since 1993, he has been
president of Ken James & Associates, a sales and marketing firm, and Marlacres
Farms Limited, a farming and land development company. Prior to his involvement
with these two companies, he was Councillor and Reeve of the Township of Sarnia
for ten years. Mr. James has been appointed to the authority's board of
directors for two years.
The Blue Water Bridge Authority, which has a four-member board of directors, is
responsible for the management and operation of the Canadian side of the Blue
Water Bridge. The Michigan Department of Transportation owns and operates the
American side. The bridge, which has existed since 1939, spans the St. Clair
River between Point Edward, Ontario, and Port Huron, Michigan.
