APPOINTMENTS TO THE ROYAL CANADIAN MINT
OTTAWA − The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport,
Infrastructure and Communities, and Minister responsible for the Royal Canadian
Mint, today announced the appointment of Mr. James Barton Love, and the
re-appointments of Mr. Ghislain Harvey and Mr. J. Marc Brûlé to the board of
directors of the Royal Canadian Mint.
"These appointees bring a wealth of knowledge to the board of directors of this
Crown corporation," said Minister Cannon.
Mr. James Barton Love holds a master of laws and bachelor of laws from Osgoode
Hall Law School, and a bachelor of arts from McGill University. Since 2002, he
has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Legacy Trust. He was
appointed Queens Counsel in 1992. He has practiced with several law firms
during his career, particularly in the areas of federal and provincial income,
sales and other taxes, acquisitions, mergers and corporate reorganizations. His
professional memberships include the Law Society of Upper Canada and the
Canadian Bar Association. Mr. Love has been appointed to the board of directors
of the Royal Canadian Mint for three years.
Mr. Ghislain Harvey holds a bachelor of human sciences from lUniversité du
Québec à Chicoutimi. Since 2003, he has held the position of vice president and
general manager of Promotion Saguenay Inc. From 1997 to 2002, he was head of
municipal administration for La Baie, Chicoutimi and Ville Saguenay
successively. He is a member of various administrative councils and is a member
of the Order of Chartered Human Resources and Industrial Relations Advisors of
Québec. Mr. Harvey has been re-appointed to the board of directors of the Royal
Canadian Mint for one year.
Mr. J. Marc Brûlé holds a bachelor of commerce from Carleton University and has
been a chartered accountant since 1975. He currently is chief executive officer
of Energy Ottawa Inc. From 2000 to 2002, he held the positions of chief
financial officer and chief executive officer successively, of Dynasty
Components Inc. (DCI). Prior to joining DCI, he was a partner with KPMG Canada
for several years as an accounting and business advisor, and as the Ottawa Human
Resources partner. Mr. Brûlé has been re-appointed to the board of directors of
the Royal Canadian Mint for one year.
The Royal Canadian Mint is a commercial Crown corporation responsible for the
production and distribution of all of Canadas circulation coins. It also
produces foreign circulation, numismatic and bullion coins for domestic and
international consumers. The Mint's Ottawa and Winnipeg production facilities
are among the largest and most advanced minting operations in the world. The
Mint employs more than 700 people in the design, production and marketing of
coins.
