Ottawa - Wednesday, November 8, 2006 - In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Canadian Police College (CPC) will host an open-house event on November 10, 2006 between 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Since opening its doors in 1976, the CPC has evolved to meet the changing needs of the Canadian and international policing community, and is recognized as a leading law enforcement training institution. Open to the media as well as Government of Canada employees, local politicians, and police forces , the event will include displays and demonstrations on explosive training, technical crime, crime scene investigation (CSI) training, forensic identification, as well as executive development courses.
Visitors will learn about the College's dynamic and cutting-edge learning initiatives as well as the extensive research and reference capabilities of the CPC Library.
MEDIA INVITATION:
The event will offer media a close up view of the specialized training and education offered by Canada's national police college. Canadian Police College staff will be on hand to answer any questions. Photo opportunities will include the College's new remote mechanical investigators (RMIs) bought to support the CPC Explosives Training unit.
Many community leaders, top-ranking officers and government officials from the National Capital Region have also been invited to attend the event.

The CPC will also host a public open-house on Sunday November 12,2006 between 1:00-4:00, with activities such as City of Ottawa Police dog handlers, child fingerprinting and hands-on crime scene investigation (CSI) activities, aimed at families and the general public.
