OTTAWA − The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport,
Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Ms. Catherine
S. Dennahower of Fort Erie, Ontario, to the board of directors of the Buffalo
and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority. Ms. Dennahower has been appointed for a
period of two years.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Dennahower to the board of
directors of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority," said Minister
Cannon. "Her experience in project management, training and administration will
be an asset for the authority."
Ms. Catherine S. Dennahower holds a teaching certificate graduation diploma
from the Toronto Teachers' College and librarianship, primary methods and
religious certificates from the Ontario College of Teachers. She served as an
elementary school teacher and school librarian with the Welland County Separate
School Board from 1952 until 1989. Ms. Dennahower has served as a member of the
Fort Erie Transit Board as well as on several other community boards. She is a
member of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association and Ontario
Superannuated Teachers' Association. From 1993 until 1998, Ms. Dennahower worked
as a field surveyor for Statistics Canada. She was a recipient of the Queen's
Medal in 2002.
The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, a bi-national bridge
authority, has owned and operated the Peace Bridge since 1933. The bridge, which
was opened to traffic in 1927, spans the Niagara River between Fort Erie,
Ontario, and Buffalo, New York. The authority has a 10-member board with an
equal number of representatives from Canada and the United States.
