Canada's new government grants $80,000 in assistance to
TM Technologies Élections Inc. for the international marketing of
Votex
Thetford Mines, Quebec, December 1, 2006 - On behalf of the
Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of
Canada Economic Development, Christian Paradis, Member of
Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable, today announced the awarding of $80,000 in
repayable funding to TM Technologies Élections Inc. to support the firm's
international marketing of its electronic voting system known as Votex.
An innovative firm operating in a strong growth sector, TM Technologies Élections Inc. manufactures one of the only systems of its kind in Quebec.
Votex was successfully used by 16 Quebec municipalities during the
November 6, 2005, municipal elections.
"I am delighted to announce this funding from Canada's new government to a
Thetford Mines firm with vision that is setting out to conquer new markets. The
project we are supporting will soon enable this enterprise to assert itself
across the Atlantic through the promising contacts it has forged in France and
Spain. Canadians in Alberta and the Maritimes may also find themselves using
Votex to exercise their right to vote in the 2007 municipal
elections," stated Christian Paradis.
With the financial support announced today, TM Technologies Élections
Inc. intends to hire a new
sales representative, develop promotional tools geared to its target markets and
participate in trade fairs. This funding is awarded through
Canada Economic Development's
IDEA-SME program, whose
aim is to help enterprises improve their competitiveness by, among other things,
encouraging them to develop new markets.
