Enterprize Atlantic 2007 will welcome more than 120
students to Halifax this weekend for a youth
entrepreneurship conference hosted by Dalhousie
University's Norman Newman Centre for Entrepreneurship. "Canada's New Government supports initiatives that foster
entrepreneurship in young people," said the Honourable
Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of
the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
(ACOA). "Encouraging young people to develop their
entrepreneurial skills will motivate these talented
graduates to develop business ideas in their own
communities."The Enterprize Atlantic 2007 conference offers participants
a chance to connect with the corporate community, to learn
from the business ideas of fellow young entrepreneurs and
be inspired to pursue entrepreneurship as a career option.
Highlights of the program include interactive discussion
forums, a keynote speaker and dynamic workshops.Enterprize Atlantic 2007 is being held in conjunction with
the regional business plan competition for post-secondary
students also hosted by Dalhousie University. Prior to the
competition, teams submitted executive summaries outlining
their business ideas. Promising groups were selected to
draft a full business plan. From these plans, ten teams
were chosen to attend the regional competition to present
their venture. The top two teams from each region will then
advance to the national competition to be held in Vancouver
next month. "I'm pleased that Enterprize Atlantic 2007 will give
participants the opportunity to develop their business
skills, but also to connect with other like-minded post-
secondary students and the business community," explained

Centre for Entrepreneurship. "There's no better time than
right now to start building business relationships and
developing partnerships!"Dalhousie University's Norman Newman Centre for
Entrepreneurship's promotes entrepreneurship in its many
forms through an innovative curriculum, applied research
and collaborative outreach activities. Enterprize Atlantic
2007 is made possible thanks to a contribution of $40,100
