Oda, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, Lynne Yelich, Member of Parliament (Blackstrap), today announced $17,596 in funding for Purich Publishing. Funding will enable the company to increase its promotional activities and reach new markets, as well as to increase its financial viability."By supporting a Canadian publisher, Canada's New Government is helping our literature to flourish, ensuring that Canadians have access to high-quality books and encouraging a wide audience for our culture at home and abroad," said Minister Oda."Purich Publishing produces and develops important books that are an integral part of Saskatchewan's history and culture," added Ms. Yelich. "Publishers such as Purich give Canadian authors, including many Saskatchewan authors, a fair chance to demonstrate their talent not only to a Saskatchewan readership, but also to Canadians across the country.""This support will allow us, as a small, specialized publisher located in Saskatoon, to continue developing quality books of national interest and to emphasize quality over quantity of titles," added publishers Karen Bolstad and Donald Purich.Canada's New Government has provided this funding under the Aid to Publishers component of the Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP) of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
