Environment Minister in Paris to Attend International Environmental Conference and Respond to Release of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report

OTTAWA, February 1, 2007 - The Honourable John Baird,
Minister of the Environment, will arrive in Paris on the morning of February
2. Upon his arrival the Minister will receive an official copy of the
final Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment
Report and be briefed by scientists on the report’s contents. He
will also attend the “Citizens of the Earth” Conference, a
reception at the Élysée Palace with President Jacques Chirac
and other Environment Ministers and Heads of State, plus a working dinner
with Nelly Olin, French Minister of Ecology & Sustainable Development
and other Environment Ministers.
Minister Baird will additionally hold a news conference. He will be joined
by Canadian IPCC experts.
