Parks Canada Launches a Recruitment Campaign

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, February 22, 2007--Parks Canada today announced a national campaign to fill more than 80 new permanent full-time jobs across Canada which will increase its capacity to protect the ecological integrity of Canada's national parks.
Included are positions in ecosystem science and monitoring, public education and outreach, and conservation management. More information on these competitions, opened to the public, which will be launched progressively over the next several months, is available on the Jobs at Parks Canada page of the Parks Canada Website at www.pc.gc.ca.
"This is an unprecedented wave of recruitment and staffing and our aim is to fill these new jobs by mid-2007," said Alan Latourelle, Chief Executive Officer of the Parks Canada Agency. "Not only will the successful candidates add to our professional capacity, they will also be contributing to another important Parks Canada goal that of becoming more representative of Canada's diverse population."
"Parks Canada is committed to ensuring the ecological integrity of our national parks while providing memorable experiences to visitors," added Mr. Latourelle. "Parks Canada needs additional qualified staff to help protect these special places and to educate the public about why they are important to Canada."
