CANADA CONDEMNS TERRORIST ATTACKS IN ALGIERS
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency, today issued the following statement in response to
bombings in Algiers, Algeria, on April 11 that according to the most recent reports have
claimed the lives of at least 23 people, and injured more than 160:
“Canada strongly condemns the senseless, brutal bombings that targeted the Prime
Minister’s office and a police station in Algiers today. There can be no justification for
these criminal acts. The perpetrators must be found and brought to justice. Canada will
continue to stand by the Government and people of Algeria.
“We offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.”
