Quebec, Quebec, April 5, 2007 The
Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of
Canada Economic Development, today announced a $60,000 repayable
contribution to Data Dis Inc., to enable the company to make its
products known on the U.S. market.
Located in Quebec City, Data Dis is a computer company specializing in
software analysis and design. The firm has developed different products, among
them MIR-RT, an effective software tool for reducing the cost of operating a
vehicle fleet by offering such functionalities as tire management by means of
RFID chips, inventory management and staff monitoring. The 135 or so
clients using this software are Quebec and Ontario enterprises with large
vehicle fleets.
"Canada Economic Development's assistance is aimed at guiding this
enterprise in its consolidation and expansion efforts, and supporting
technological entrepreneurship," stated Minister Blackburn. "It is also in
line with Canada's new government's desire to enhance enterprises'
competitiveness, in particular through the international commercialization of
innovative products."
"We are recognized as the leader in vehicle fleet maintenance in Quebec and
Canada," added Marc Blackburn, President of Data Dis. "Compared with
similar offerings in the United States, our product provides the best
quality/price/performance ratio, according to industry stakeholders. So the goal
is to use the financial assistance from Canada Economic Development to
promote our product across the U.S., so as to be identified as the leader
throughout North America."
The Agency's assistance ties in with Canada's new
government's desire to facilitate the growth of small and medium-sized
Quebec enterprises and help them become more competitive on the international
scene.
