Québec, Quebec, April 12, 2007 Acting
on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and
Minister of Canada Economic Development, Luc Harvey, Member of
Parliament for Louis-Hébert, today announced the awarding of $113,790 in
repayable funding to Industries Rocand Inc. to help the firm position
itself on the Mexican market.
Located in Québec's technology park,
Industries Rocand Inc. specializes in the design and manufacture of
moulds for use in the production of plastic and aluminium parts. Bumpers for
utility vehicles, automotive gas tanks, table fans, pool ladders, and draining
hoses are among the products manufactured by the firm.
Industries Rocand Inc. will invest $379,300 in the
implementation of a market development strategy aimed at international buyers in
Mexico. The one-year project will involve hiring four foreign sales
officers, taking part in industry trade shows and opening up a representation
and technical support office.
"This assistance from Canada Economic Development is in line with
the determination of Canada's new government to facilitate the growth of
Quebec's small and medium-sized businesses and help them become more competitive
on the international stage. Our contribution will enable
Industries Rocand Inc. to meet its international development targets
by investing in and innovating with new products. The
firm's commercialization strategy will have a lever effect on the growth
and diversification of its export activities. This initiative is expected to
result in the creation of 10 direct jobs, eight of them within the
12 months following the project's execution in October 2007.
Industries Rocand Inc. clearly has all of the technological and
strategic capabilities needed to make this project a success," noted
Mr. Harvey.
