OTTAWA ¿ Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Jean-Daniel Lafond, will attend the opening of Quebec Scene, which will feature the world premiere of La La La Human Steps, Friday, April 20, 2007, at 8:00 p.m., at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Quebec Scene gathers 700 Quebec artists who will perform over 16 days in more than 100 events in Ottawa Gatineau. It is one part of a series of festivals exploring Canada's cultural panorama and will celebrate a dynamic culture: a synergy of the old and the new, of traditions and new technologies, of established and emerging artists.
As part of Quebec Scene, Rideau Hall presents an art exhibition entitled "Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal à Rideau Hall", which will remain in the Ambassador's Room until September 30, 2007. The exhibit showcases seven works from the museum's permanent collection that reflect the diversity and the revival of painting in Quebec. The works highlight the visions of five Quebec artists who are revisiting painting traditions in their own way. For additional information, please visit www.gg.ca
