New Fishing Guide Now Available

Vancouver, B.C. - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) announced
today that new fishing regulations for recreational anglers and harvesters are now
available. The British Columbia Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Guide/Freshwater Salmon
Supplement is now available throughout B.C. from licence vendors and DFO offices.
The Sport Fishing Guide/Freshwater Salmon Supplement is valid
for two years from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2009.
Important regulations for anglers and harvesters are outlined
in the booklet. The entire booklet is also available online at
www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish.
Updates to the information in the booklet will be made by Fishery Notice. Anglers
are encouraged to check for regulation updates by visiting the website, a local
DFO office, or by calling the 24-hour recorded line at 866-431-3474 or 604-666-2828
in Greater Vancouver.
When a tidal waters sport fishing licence is purchased for the
current season, an angler or harvester can request a copy of the Sport Fishing Guide/Freshwater
Salmon Supplement. It is the responsibility of the angler to be informed of the
up-to-date regulations.
Tidal waters fishing licences may be acquired online at
www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish.
Please be advised that annual licences expired on March 31 and a new annual licence
is required for 2007.
Recreational fisheries are an important element of the west coast
fishery. Fisheries and Oceans Canada is managing our fishery resources for Canadians
today while caring for and protecting them for tomorrow.
