OTTAWA - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Carlo Di Gioacchino to the
Parc Downsview Park Inc. board of directors.
“I am very pleased that Mr. Di Gioacchino has agreed to serve on the board of Parc Downsview Park," said Minister Cannon. "His experience in telecommunications will serve the board well."
Mr. Carlo Di Gioacchino holds a bachelor of arts degree in commercial and administrative studies from the University of Western Ontario. He is currently employed by Futureway Communications Inc., a telecommunications company founded by Greater Toronto Area builders and developers to service new residential and commercial developments with leading edge technologies. He has played a leading role in the company on issues such as merger and acquisition assessments, and liaising with regulatory bodies, municipal government, and utility companies. He is also involved with various other business and development organizations, including Main West Village, a company that is constructing a student residence under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. Mr. Di Gioacchino has been appointed for a term of four years.
Downsview Park, in Toronto, Ontario, is a unique urban park and recreational green space created from the remaining lands of the former Canadian Forces Base Toronto. The park was dedicated to Canadians on September 29, 2003, as a major federal urban park. The 572-acre site is operated by Parc Downsview Park Inc., an agent Crown corporation, which is mandated to manage and develop part of the Downsview lands on a self-financing basis as a unique urban recreational green space to be held in perpetuity for the enjoyment of future generations. The site consists of 362 acres of green space for public enjoyment while the remaining area is to be developed commercially to support the operation of the park.
