OTTAWA – The Honourable Gordon O’Connor, Minister of National Defence, and Carla Qualtrough, President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, will announce the launch of a new program for Canadian Forces personnel during a news conference tomorrow.
This announcement will be made during a Paralympic Sport Summit taking place May 25th-27th, 2007 at Carleton University.
Also in attendance will be General Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff, and Paralympic sledge hockey gold medalist, Jean Labonté.
Media are invited to attend the announcement, which will take place prior to the start of a sledge hockey demonstration. Interviews can be arranged with some of the participants on location.
Where:
Ice House Foyer, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa
What:
Media are invited to attend the launch and view the sledge hockey tutorial. A ceremonial face-off will take place on the ice after the news conference.
When:
Saturday, May 26th, 2007. The event begins at 2:30 p.m. Media should arrive no later than 2:10 p.m.
