OTTAWA, May 1, 2007 -- The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), today appointed Fay Orr as the Public Sector Director for Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
"Ms. Orr's ongoing experience as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture for the province of Alberta will be a solid asset to the CTC," said Minister Bernier. "With her tremendous knowledge and vast experience, she will make a great contribution to the growth of tourism in Canada," he added.
Ms. Orr has had, over numerous years, an extensive and varied career with the Alberta public service. Prior to serving as Director of Communications for the Premier of Alberta, from 1998 to 2000, she held several strategic planning and senior management positions. She became Managing Director of the Public Affairs Bureau in 2000, was appointed Deputy Minister of Government Services in 2003, and became Deputy Minister of Community Development in 2004. Ms. Orr was appointed Deputy Minister of Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture in 2006.
