OTTAWA - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure
and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Donald Woodley as
interim chair of the Canada Post Corporation board of directors for a period of
90 days.
"I am very pleased that Mr. Woodley has agreed to serve as interim Chair on the
board of Canada Post," said Minister Cannon. "He joined the board of directors
in August 2006 and within this timeframe has made a significant contribution to
the Corporation."
Mr. Donald Woodley is currently president and chief executive officer of Gennum
Corporation as well as president of The Fifth Line Enterprise. Mr. Woodley has
over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, management and information
technology, and was ranked 15th in the "Top 30 Canada's IT Movers and Shakers"
in Computing Canada Magazine in 2005. He holds a bachelor of commerce degree
from the University of Saskatchewan and a masters degree in business
administration from the University of Western Ontario (Richard Ivey School of
Business). Mr. Woodley is a current board member of TELUS Corporation Inc.,
DataMirror Corporation, Sick Kids Hospital Foundation and Richard Ivey School of
Business.
Mr. Woodley replaces Gordon Feeney who resigned of his own accord on April 26,
2007. He was appointed to the position on September 30, 2004, for a term of
three years.
"I would like to thank Mr. Feeney for his personal commitment in recent years in
leading Canada's largest Crown corporation," added Minister Cannon.
Canada Post Corporation is a Crown corporation and the seventh largest employer
in Canada. It serves approximately 31 million Canadians and more than one
million businesses and public institutions. Each working day, it delivers
approximately 37 million pieces of mail to more than 13 million addresses in
Canada.
