Request to Join WTO Consultations on Chinese Subsidy Programs

The Honourable David Emerson, Minister of International Trade, announced that the
Government of Canada has asked to participate as a third party in the second round of
World Trade Organization (WTO) consultations on certain Chinese subsidy programs.
The United States and Mexico initiated this further round of consultations in early May,
following those held earlier this year.
The consultations will provide Canada with an opportunity to seek clarification from
China on the scope and content of recent legislative changes that could impact some of
the programs.
