LYSTER, Quebec–The Honourable Christian Paradis, Secretary of State for Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Mégantic–L’Érable, on behalf of the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, today announced the opening of a new Service Canada outreach site in Lyster, which will make it easier for residents to access Government of Canada programs and services they need where and when they need them.
“Canadians have said they want simple and efficient service, and choice in how they access it – whether by phone, Internet or in person,” said Mr. Paradis. “With this new outreach site, Canada’s New Government is making sure residents of the Lyster area have access to personalized assistance to help them get the right information about the programs and services they need.”
Thanks to Service Canada’s cross-country service delivery network, Canadians can now access government programs and services closer to home, whether they want to apply for a passport or Social Insurance Number, get Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan or seniors benefits, look for a job or plan a career.
Quebec currently has 80 Service Canada Centres and 31 outreach sites in remote, rural and northern communities that were previously underserved.
A Service Canada agent will now be available at the Lyster Public Library, 2375 Bécancour Street, every two weeks on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., to help people file their Employment Insurance and Income Security applications, among other services.
Service Canada brings Government of Canada services and benefits together in a single delivery network. It provides Canadians with one-stop, personalized service they can access however they choose – by phone at 1 800 O-Canada, Internet at servicecanada.gc.ca, or in person at Service Canada Centres and outreach sites across the country.
