Arrest of a Suspected Member of ETA in Quebec City

News Release

Montréal, Wednesday, June 20, 2007 - Today, the Montréal
RCMP Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) in cooperation
with the Anti Terrorism Service of the Sûreté du Québec,
the Quebec City Police, and the Spanish authorities, arrested in Quebec
City, an individual suspected of being a member of the Euskadi Ta Askatasuna
(ETA) and illegally in Canada.
This arrest follows the arrest by RCMP Vancouver INSET and Vancouver
Police, of another suspected member of the ETA on June 1, 2007 in Vancouver,
B.C.
Both individuals are currently being detained on Canada Border Services
Agency immigration warrants.
The RCMP remains committed to working with its domestic and international
partners to ensure that Canada is not used as a safe-haven for those that
would commit acts of violence in Canada or abroad.
