NRC Signs a Collaborative Agreement With Helmholtz of Germany

June 12, 2007, Berlin, Germany — The National Research Council Canada (NRC) and the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres signed an agreement pledging to work together for the next three years to help Canada and Germany achieve results in clean energy. This agreement will bring together some of the world's best researchers in the fields of alternative energy such as hydrogen, bio-fuels and the environmentally-friendly use of energy.
Bringing together some of the world's top researchers, the agreement will allow both countries to lever their resources, access unique expertise and facilities, conduct multidisciplinary projects, and share strategic information to achieve the technology development objectives more quickly.
Spanning three years, the agreement is valued at approximately $8.4 million in direct and indirect spending. According to NRC President, Dr. Pierre Coulombe, "We anticipate that some of these research projects will involve industrial partners, thus accelerating the development and market-readiness of technology solutions in clean energy, and providing growth opportunities for Canadian enterprises".
