NEW GLASGOW, Nova Scotia, July 31, 2007 -- Starting and running a business in New Glasgow just became easier because of BizPaL, a new online business permit and licence service that saves time spent on paperwork and helps entrepreneurs start up faster.
Today, the Honourable Gerry Ritz, Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism), on behalf of the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry, together with Ann MacLean, Mayor of New Glasgow, welcomed the launch of BizPaL in the Town of New Glasgow.
BizPaL is an innovative project that provides entrepreneurs with simplified access to the information on permits and licences they need to establish and run their businesses. This unique partnership among federal, provincial, territorial, regional and local governments is designed to cut through the paperwork burden and red tape that small business owners encounter.
"Reducing red tape simplifies regulatory compliance, which makes doing business in Nova Scotia more attractive," said Mr. Ritz. "Canada's New Government is pleased to be working with the Town of New Glasgow to promote a more competitive and productive local economy by providing easy access to essential information and reducing paperwork costs for business."
"The Town of New Glasgow is pleased to be selected as one of the first two Atlantic Canadian communities to launch this innovative service," said Ms. MacLean. "As the commercial service centre for northeastern Nova Scotia, our strategic goal is to make New Glasgow a community that provides a progressive business climate, and BizPal is another initiative that enables our municipality to make significant strides in this area."
The BizPaL service in the Town of New Glasgow was developed with the support of Industry Canada and in collaboration with the municipality and the province.
