Canada will host the 12th meeting of the NAFTA Free Trade Commission in Vancouver,
British Columbia, on August 13 and 14, 2007.
The Honourable David Emerson, Minister of International Trade, will chair the meeting.
His NAFTA counterparts, United States Trade Representative Susan Schwab and
Mexican Secretary of the Economy, Eduardo Sojo Garza-Aldape, will also attend.
The NAFTA Free Trade Commission, which is composed of cabinet-level
representatives from Canada, the United States and Mexico, meets regularly to
supervise the implementation of NAFTA and the work of some 30 committees and
working groups.
Minister Emerson, Ambassador Schwab and Secretary Sojo will participate in a joint
media availability following the NAFTA Free Trade Commission meeting.
Media representatives who wish to cover this event must contact the International Trade
Media Relations Office at 613-996-2000 by 2:30 p.m. PDT (5:30 p.m. EDT) on Monday,
August 13, 2007, to register. Only applications from known media outlets as listed in
commercial media directories will be accepted. Access will be restricted to media
representatives who have met the above criteria and registered.
