Canada's New Government Awards $98,100 in Funding to Manufacture Kute Knit Inc.

Montréal, Quebec, August 30, 2007 The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced the awarding of $98,100 in non-repayable funding to Manufacture Kute Knit Inc. for the installation of modern equipment and development of a pollution prevention plan at its Montréal factory. This project will result in the consolidation of the firm's 70 existing jobs.
"The Quebec textile industry plays an instrumental role in the local economy. That is why our government is so convinced of the importance of supporting a firm like Manufacture Kute Knit Inc. This funding from Canada Economic Development will help this enterprise improve its productivity and better comply with the Government of Canada's environmental requirements," stated Minister Blackburn.
Founded in 1959, Manufacture Kute Knit Inc. specializes in the in-house production of knitted and dyed fabrics and the manufacture of quality children's apparel and sportswear for major retail outlets.
"This government investment will enable Manufacture Kute Knit Inc. to remain competitive within an increasingly globalized market," the Minister concluded.
