Saint-Stanislas, Quebec, August 23, 2007 While touring the region today, the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, announced the awarding of $150,000 in repayable funding to the firm ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislas Inc. for a productivity enhancement project.
ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislas Inc. specializes in the machining, reconditioning, sale and distribution of diesel engines and components. A subsidiary of Groupe Fournier Diesel Inc., which encompasses one Ontario-based and seven Quebec-based enterprises, ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislas Inc. is an important driving force of the Saint-Stanislas and surrounding economy. Over the past decade, the company has invested more than $2 million in expanding its plant, which currently employs some 36 workers.
This project is the result of a productivity diagnosis conducted on all aspects of the enterprise's operations. This funding from Canada Economic Development will enable ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislais Inc. to modernize its plant's chain of production, primarily with respect to its machining, assembly and shipping divisions, carry out major renovations on the interior of the building and acquire new equipment and machinery.
"Canada's new government is committed to principles and policies that will pave the way to economic growth and new business opportunities. ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislas Inc. plays a key role in the economic development of Saint-Stanislas, a rural community with some one thousand residents. It is therefore essential to ensure the long-term survival of this dynamic, innovative enterprise. This project is entirely in line with our government's determination to help enterprises become more competitive by acquiring and incorporating new leading-edge equipment into their operations," stated Minister Blackburn.
"Our short-term goal is to raise our productivity by about 15%. The success of this project could lead us to invest several millions of dollars in setting up new assembly lines, which would result in the creation of many new jobs in the very near future," noted André Fournier, president of ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislas Inc.
This contribution has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Community Economic Diversification Initiative Vitalty (CEDI-V).
