Canada's New Government Supports Montréal's 10th Mois de la photo

News Release

MONTRÉAL, August 29, 2007 - The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced $22,410 in funding for the Mois de la photo de Montréal. The organization will undertake a study and review of its administration in order to improve its organizational structure.
"Over the years, the Mois de la photo de Montréal has become the focal point of contemporary photography in Quebec and around the world," said Minister Verner. "Canada's New Government is pleased to support the 10th anniversary event, which invites artists and other specialists to cooperate and share their experience."
This year, the Mois de la photo de Montréal will take place from September 6 to October 21, and will feature about thirty solo exhibitions around the theme of Replaying Narrative. Works by artists from across the country and around the world will be displayed throughout Montréal. Special exhibitions and free activities will also take place in public spaces and former industrial buildings in the Saint-Henri district.
Canada's New Government has provided this financial assistance through the Department of Canadian Heritage and its Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program. The goal of this program is to support modern management and greater financial stability in arts and heritage organizations.
