OTTAWA, October 11, 2007 - The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Jeffrey A. Turner of Manotick, Ontario, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Nature.
"I am pleased to have someone with such diverse business experience as Mr. Turner agree to serve the board of the Museum of Nature and help fulfill its mandate," said Minister Verner.
Mr. Turner has been the associate vice-president of community campaign and sponsorship of United Way/Centraide Ottawa since 2002. From 1997 to 2002, he was regional sales manager for Primus Telecommunications in Ontario and Quebec, and served as sales manager for TelSn in Ottawa from 1997 to 1999. He was president of Turner Design Built in Ottawa from 1981 to 1997. From 1978 to 1981, he worked with Bigelow Canada in management development and served as director of marketing.
Mr. Turner founded Albion Security Systems in 1976 and served as vice-president and COO until 1978. From 1973 to 1976, he was store manager for Arlington Sports in Ottawa.
He is active in the Canadian Club of Ottawa, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, and the Association of Fundraiser Professionals.
